About Thrive Core

Two practitioners. One framework. Two pillars.

Thrive Core was founded by a husband-and-wife team who realised that the same systems-thinking that builds healthy organisations also builds healthy homes. We work at both levels because both matter.

Our story

Thrive Core began with a shared observation. Across the Kenyan institutions Amos served as a leader and the families Gakii served as a counsellor and coach, the same patterns appeared in different costumes. Anxiety, miscommunication, identity confusion, leadership burnout, weak emotional regulation. The settings changed. The underlying questions did not.

We launched Thrive Core to bring both halves of that work under one roof. One firm. Two pillars. A single framework that treats the family and the institution as systems that can be assessed, supported, and made stronger.

Amos Otieno Owino

Co-founder · Institutional Leadership & Organisational Health

Amos Otieno Owino

Amos brings seventeen years of leadership development and institutional management to Thrive Core. He has served as a lead pastor, executive coach, and senior leader across faith-based, educational, and youth-focused organisations in East Africa, training over one hundred leaders during that time. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Operations Management, professional credentials in project management, and is completing a Master of Divinity.

Within Thrive Core, Amos leads the Organisational Health & Business Consulting pillar. He works directly with school principals, university leaders, and corporate executives — diagnosing institutional culture, coaching senior leaders, and designing the programmes that help organisations build long-term health rather than chase short-term wellness. He is the founder of VANTAGE AFRICA, an executive coaching practice serving the East African market.

"Most organisations measure performance. We measure what is producing the performance — or quietly destroying it."

Co-founder · Clinical Care & Youth Development

Gakii "Kiki" Otieno

Gakii is a trained psychotherapist, Christian counsellor, and life coach with deep experience in youth development and family ministry. She has spent her career walking with couples through marriage crises, supporting parents through adolescent transitions, and building structured camp and retreat programming for young people across Kenya.

Within Thrive Core, Gakii leads the Family, Marriage & Youth pillar and provides the clinical depth that anchors the firm's organisational health work. Her clinical training informs the diagnostic instruments used across all three ThriveCore Organisational Health programmes, and she leads the school and college sub-products — ROOTS and BRIDGE — where her youth development expertise is most needed.

"A traumatised teacher cannot support a traumatised student. The same is true of a burnt-out leader and a struggling team. We start where the data sends us."

Why this combination is rare.

Clinical depth.

Most consulting firms have no clinical training. Most counsellors have no institutional leadership experience. Thrive Core has both, in equal measure, in one founding team.

Institutional fluency.

We speak the language of a school principal, a Vice Chancellor, a CEO, a youth pastor, and a husband walking through a difficult season. The vocabulary changes. The care does not.
